Does Grizzly Adams have a beard? The answer to both those questions is.. YES! One might assume the rope may be itchy or uncomfortable like an old wool sweater your grandma used to knit. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Every HIPPÖ rope sandal is handmade using polypropylene rope that is super soft and naturally forms to your foot over time. It is the exact same rope that hammocks are made with so in essence they are mini-hammocks for your feet. Only weighing 8oz., they feel like you are walking around barefoot no matter what surface you are on. You simply have to try them out for yourself!

Years! Over time you will certainly see some signs of wear but we have yet to have a customer say our sandals have fallen apart or broke on them. We just like to consider these signs of wear as battle wounds from all your epic adventures together.

Of course! Why do you think we call them HIPPÖs? You can wear them on land or in the water. They double as water shoes and can handle everything from tiny puddles on the street to gigantic ocean waves. That’s not even the best part though. They float too, just remember that you don’t!

HIPPÖs are chlorine and salt water resistant, and are great to wear in the water, but if you do, make sure you dry them out properly before storing them. Since they are made up of hundreds of individual fibers, they will smell just like a wet carpet if not dried thoroughly. If this happens just try soaking them in a little bleach and letting them dry out in the sun.

If you walk on rough surfaces a lot, the rope fibers will naturally begin to fray at certain points. Don’t stress. Just take a lighter or match and burn off the excess fibers. The heat will singe the ends and allow the rope to weld back together again.

If you live in Canada, we DO take exchanges for another size. Test out your sandals walking on carpet for a few minutes and if you decide you need another size, as long as there is no sign of wear, you can return your sandals for an exchange. To return, ship your rope sandals back to us at:

That depends on where you are! All our packages are shipped from our workshop here in Ottawa, Ontario. Therefore, orders placed within Ontario will take 1-3 business days to arrive. Orders outside of Ontario including the U.S. typically take 3-7 business days. Overseas deliveries can take anywhere from 7-16 days depending on your country’s customs and postal system.
